I'm Rabbi Scott Kalmikoff, a professional genealogist based in New York City with 20 years of experience researching family trees.
One of the greatest joys of my work is helping clients connect to their roots—introducing them to ancestors they’ve never met, uncovering stories long forgotten, and witnessing the meaning and belonging that these discoveries bring to their lives. Genealogical research offers a precious gift—one we can lovingly pass from generation to generation. For me, genealogy is far more than a hobby or a profession—it is a journey of personal exploration and self-discovery. As we learn about our ancestors, we inevitably learn about ourselves. By uncovering our family stories, we strengthen our connection to the past and deepen our own identities. Jewish history and the narratives of our families are inseparable from our own; they shape who we are today in ways we may never fully realize.
